Officer Corey Saffold is a law enforcement professional in Madison and serves as a School Liaison Officer in Dane County, Wisconsin. He is known in the community for his volunteerism and his work with all ages and demographic backgrounds.
Officer Saffold will present a talk and lead a discussion as part of the Wisconsin Humanities Council's Working Lives Project and ShopTalk series. What are the forces that have made work what it is today and what might work look like tomorrow?
Officer Saffold will discuss his experiences as a Black policeman in the wake of multiple, highly publicized killings of unarmed African-Americans by police officers. He will discuss the paradox of being a Black officer during a time when police are viewed as an enemy and are often not trusted, especially among the African-American community.
